{"id":343,"date":"2022-02-12T18:34:09","date_gmt":"2022-02-12T09:34:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/shop.istdjapan.org\/en\/?post_type=product&#038;p=343"},"modified":"2022-02-12T18:36:00","modified_gmt":"2022-02-12T09:36:00","slug":"electric-data-03_p142-growing-up-chinese-in-japan-an-autoethnography","status":"publish","type":"product","link":"https:\/\/shop.istdjapan.org\/en\/product\/electric-data-03_p142-growing-up-chinese-in-japan-an-autoethnography\/","title":{"rendered":"[Electric data] 03_P142 Growing Up Chinese in Japan: An Autoethnography"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Existing research into newcomers to Japan has focused primarily on the perspective of researchers.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This means that the views of the newcomers themselves have not been the subject of a great deal of discussion.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Critical narratives of the newcomer as a researcher can reveal the insider\u2019s point of view and provide an opportunity to explore practical application in solving social challenges surrounding newcomers.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This paper describes the author\u2019s experiences as a Chinese person who came to Japan as a newcomer.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>To achieve this purpose, the method of autoethnography, which puts emphasis on experiences of persons concerned, is adopted.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The author\u2019s life history has been divided into three distinct phases in this paper.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The first phase covers the period that begins with their arrival in Japan and ends with the completion of elementary school.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The second phase is seen to have begun with entry into junior high school and to have ended with graduation from high school.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The final phase extends from enrolment in university until the present day.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Based the stories, the author\u2019s development process was discussed from the perspective of places of belonging.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<h2 class=\"author\">Author\uff1aHao Liu<\/h2>\n<p>Terms and conditions of use: This article may be used for research, teaching, and private study purposes.
