Description

This past year we have experienced a pandemic that revealed to even the most reluctant observer of global affairs that the capitalist neoliberal system ensnares us all.

The pandemic intensified known fractures and revealed how truly fragile it turns out the global capitalist system really is.

Production in industrial countries stumbled as workshops and factories in China supplying component parts to Western industries shut down due to COVID-19.

And as China began to recover and its factories reopened, there was a global decline in demand for goods leaving parts from reopened factories stacked up in ports throughout Asia.

Global supply chains ground to a halt.

People everywhere began imagining what a new society and economy would look like as everything was going to change, and the promise of a new beginning filled both progressive and conservative imaginaries.
